About the Grant
The Grant:
The Work of Art is focusing on reintegrating art education back into classrooms. Educators are asked to write a unit that integrates art education into their existing curriculum. This could be in the capacity of fine arts or performing arts. The final outcome of the unit must directly impact another nonprofit group. The teacher will be responsible for selecting the nonprofit. Recipient Qualifications: Certified school teacher currently teaching in a k-12 classroom in Detroit.

Criteria for Selection:
- Recipients will be chosen based on the strength of the unit plan and quality of recommendations
- A minimum of 4 recipients will be chosen each year for a maximum of $2,500 per recipient.
Additional Information:
The Work of Art will have a minimum of 4 recipients each year, for a maximum of $2,500 per grant. If we raise more than $10,000, then additional recipients may be chosen. In order to keep the grant, teachers must submit the classroom assessments to show the student progress as well as document the final product and its impact on the receiving nonprofit. The selection committee will consist of the Board of Directors and at least one certified teacher.
